I am the unidentified medic that went into the Caravelle Hotel in Saigon immediately after the bomb went off. I examined and treated a whole passel of people. I happened to be on R&R from my Special Forces camp at Minh Than. I hear there was a story about it in the Stars and Stripes. If anyone has it please scan it and e-mail it to me.

Hello all, and thanks for serving our country.

My uncle Ernie Hart (Clarence Ernest Hart) (b. 1941-Illinois) served in the 3rd RRU in 1961-63, I believe.

I've never been able to get him to tell much about it. Looks like that's pretty common, but maybe this site will help me learn more of what he did.

One thing I've wanted to do is to compile a uniform just like what he would have worn home, with the right patches, etc. Can anyone help me get a better idea of what a 3rd RRU vet would have worn in 1963?

Merry Christmas to all the 3rd RRU vets, and to ell the Vietnam Vets everywhere!

I ran across your site while looking for a "Butch Williamson," who was one of my closest friends in the 1960's, in Charlotte, NC.
Now, perhaps this ISN'T the same one (if it IS, ask him to email me), but I AM intrigued by your site, and the legend of your organization.
Thanks for all you guys have done, and God Bless during the forthcoming year!

Created the ADP Branch for CICV on Tan Son Nhut AB in Jan-Feb 66. Later, it was called an IDHS in MACV J2. The first automated file was SPARS from the 3rd RRU. I stayed for 4 1/2 years and automated many more files for just about every intelligence activity in Viet Nam. Retired as a MSG in 1981.

ASA Resume (hey that rhymes!)
Basic at Fort Leonard Wood 1967
Blew ditty bopper school at Devens 67-68
Became five clerks in the 156th Avn (RR) Can Tho 1968-69
!969-71; HQ USASA Europe, Frankfurt where I was first a reporter/photographer
and then the Editor of the Frankfurter Forum, the unit newspaper...and NCOIC of
ASA Europe's Public Information Division.
You didn't know we had a PIO? That's okay, neither did the Pentagon...they used to come out and ask us about it every year. So I was an E-5 doing an E-9 job. Interesting times. Strangely enough I'm still a journalist, and a novelist and playwright. Like to hear from anyone from either unit.

While moving to a new home, I ran across my old ASA uniform and it sure did bring back fond memories. Not knowing what became of the agency after the wall came down, I started checking out the web and found this interesting site. I was a part of the agency between 1970 and 1977. Duty stations included Rothwesten, Mt. Meissner, 7th RRFS and Vint Hill Farms. I welcome any and all emails... Ross

Hi All,
Just signing in on new book. Was 05H and O5D from 1962 until 1976. One of the first INSCOM Warrant Officers appointed when INSCOM came into being. 10 years in the Far East and 3 1/2 in Germany at Rothwesten. Retired in '88 as CWO3. Just read the whole guest book and found a few names I served with. Mark Scheidler, Ken Jones, Ed Joos and a few others. KTF
